A further bid was submitted for a shop front project from Southwark Council’s Cleaner Greener Safer Fund. Again with the help of our Councillors the bid was successful! The project began in June 2013 and has seen improvements and repairs along with welcoming shutter graphics to shutters on Tower Bridge Road. We believe such projects will help to make Tower Bridge Road a smarter, more pleasant place to live, work and visit!
With the commitment of our projects, it was now important to hold a meeting with the relevant parties. The first steering group meeting was held at the Southwark Council office on Tuesday 25th June 2013 at 6.30pm and a subsequent meeting was held later in the year. Both meetings were attended by a number of individuals representing local businesses, residents and organisations. Discussions about the work of the Alliance, TFL’s involvement and other projects happening on Tower Bridge Road were all part of the agenda. TFL also attended the second meeting to update attendees about the forthcoming public realm project on Tower Bridge Road. The minutes of both meetings along with a list of current tasks have now been distributed to attendees of the meeting along with other interested locals, who now have the opportunity to become involved with the projects as volunteers. A copy of the minutes will soon be available on our website.
TBRA have now built strong relationships with major stakeholders such as TFL and Network Rail. In addition, further applications for project funding have been submitted and we hope to carry on the excellent work to make Tower Bridge Road a better place.
